Rebekah Sassi
Director of Institutional Advancement
Rebekah Sassi is in her 15th season as Director of Institutional Advancement of Walnut Street Theatre. During her tenure at the Walnut, contributed revenue has more than doubled. In 2010, working in concert with staff and board leadership, she authored her fourth strategic plan for the theatre. Becky is a frequent speaker on fundraising, boards and non-profit careers and has served as a peer panelist for the Philadelphia Cultural Fund and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. She is a member of the Board of the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, recently completing a 3-year term as Board Chair. Prior to the Walnut, she worked at a number of regional theatres including George Street Playhouse (New Brunswick, NJ), Long Wharf Theatre (New Haven, CT) and the New York State Theatre Institute (Albany, NY). She is honored to have mentored dozens of staff members and apprentices, many of whom currently work in cultural organizations across the country. Becky graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Hamilton College in 1991 and currently lives in the Roxborough neighborhood of Philadelphia with her husband and two children, Ethan and Emma. She is thankful for the dedicated work of her staff, the collaboration and friendship of the Walnut's Board of Trustees and the generosity of the thousands of individuals and institutions that support America's oldest theatre each year.
