Rebekah Sassi
Director of Institutional Advancement
Rebekah Sassi is in her twelfth season as Director of Institutional Advancement. Since she arrived in 1997, contributed revenue has more than doubled. Rebekah is a frequent guest lecturer on fundraising, boards and non-profit careers and was recently selected to participate in the Philadelphia Cultural Management Initiative's Leadership Project. In June 2008, she was elected as Chair of the Board of the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, the service organization which strengthens and leads the region's richly diverse theatre community. Prior to the Walnut, she worked at a number of regional theatres including George Street Playhouse (New Brunswick, NJ), Long Wharf Theatre (New Haven, CT) and the New York State Theatre Institute (Albany, NY). Rebekah is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Hamilton College and currently lives in Roxborough with her husband and two children, Ethan and Emma. She is thankful for the dedicated work of her staff, the collaboration and friendship of the Walnut's Board of Trustees and the generosity of the thousands of individuals and institutions that support the theatre each year.
