Education

The mission for Walnut Street Theatre's Education Programs is: To foster a love of learning about all aspects of theatre, to enrich the lives of children-particularly those living in poverty– and adults and their communities, to make theatre accessible to all and provide a means of participation in theatre to all, to build audiences for tomorrow, to infuse schools with arts integrated curricula and to encourage the dreams of students young and old to use theatre as a vessel for creative expression, personal growth, skill attainment, and as a means to realize those dreams.

Walnut Street Theatre believes that theatre is a profound tool for creating connections. Students learn to connect with their curriculum, their peers, their communities and their inner-selves. Theatre creates bridges between the world of the student and uncharted worlds which students may explore in new ways. Above all we strive to create new opportunities for success for our students and to increase self confidence, strengthen collaborative skills, improve learning, and expand an individual's world-view.
