You Can't Stop the Bid! The Walnut's Ninth Annual Auction!

September 24, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PA: Let thoughts of vacations, fine dining and luxury lead you to the Walnut Street Theatre's 9th Annual Auction, You Can't Stop The Bid! This year's auction will take place on October 24, 2008 with the silent auction beginning at 6:00 p.m. and the live auction starting at 8:00 p.m. This year's auction will benefit the Walnut Street Theatre Education Programs. Groove with us for a night to remind us that the theatre is a place where big dreams can come true.

Walnut Street Theatre and its partners in the community have collected lots of groovy giveaways! Enjoy an out of this world evening with gift certificates from one of these great restaurants: Water Works Restaurant and Lounge, Dante and Luigi's, The Prime Rib, Fork Restaurant and Devon Seafood Grill. Are you a sports fan? Come bid on four seats in the Diamond Club for a 2009 Philadelphia Phillies game, two luxury suite tickets to a Philadelphia Flyers game or an autographed hockey stick owned by Flyer Sami Kapanen! Looking to get away from it all for a few days? Our auction will include a trip for two from Apple Vacations, a blimp ride over Atlantic City and two round-trip tickets to anywhere in the world from Air France.

This is the Walnut's 200th anniversary season! In honor of our bicentennial, we will be auctioning off several pieces of memorabilia from our extensive history. In addition, we will be auctioning off an oversized foam cutout from the recent production of Peter Pan! There are also many items from Les Miserables including a show banner and a Cosette banner.

These are just a few of the great items that will be available at this year's auction so there will certainly be something for everyone! The clock is ticking so reserve your seats before this sensation dances back to the 1960s!

All proceeds from You Can't Stop The Bid! will benefit the Walnut's Education Programs, which is celebrating another record breaking year of success under the leadership of Susan Nicodemus Quinn. The Education Department's offerings include the Adopt-a-School program, which produces theatre at schools using their students and facilities; the Professional Apprentice program, which provides hands-on training for young theatre professionals; the Touring Outreach Company, which uses theatre to broach important social issues with students at local schools and the Walnut Street Theatre School, which offers classes for adults and children year round. This past year the Walnut's educational programming helped over 110,000 students in the Delaware Valley follow their dreams!

You won't want to miss the magic of You Can't Stop The Bid! For just $35 in advance or $40 at the door, you can show your support for Walnut's Education Department and join us for an evening of big hair, big music and big bids.
