Fox 29, The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Walnut invite you to 'Consider Yourself One of Us!'

August 3, 2009

Fox 29, The Philadelphia Inquirer and Walnut Street Theatre WANT YOU!

Consider yourself one of us! Join Fox 29, Philadelphia Inquirer and Walnut Street Theatre this holiday season and you could be a part of our all-new production of Oliver!

Charles Dickens' award-winning masterpiece, about the orphan boy who asked for more, will be one of the most exciting Broadway musicals ever to take center stage at Walnut Street Theatre! It features many of our favorite Broadway songs, including "I'd Do Anything," "Food Glorious Food," "You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two," and, of course, "Consider Yourself."

Join us for OPEN AUDITIONS for the Walnut's upcoming production of Oliver!

Auditions will take place at the Walnut on Monday, September 14, 2009. We are searching for young actors ages 6-13 (boys and girls).

The search is on for as many as 36 young actors (two teams of 18 kids each!) who will perform live, onstage at the Walnut, from November 10 through January 10th. They'll work with Broadway actors including Hugh Panaro (Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera) and with some of Philadelphia's finest professional actors. The show is directed by Mark Clements, director of the Barrymore winning productions of Les Misérables and Of Mice and Men at the Walnut. Select finalists will be featured by Good Day Philadelphia and in the Philadelphia Inquirer!

How to audition:

1) E-mail WSTOliverCasting@gmail.com for an appointment and include parent's name, child's name, age and telephone number. Auditions are Monday, September 14th between 10am and 6pm. Callbacks on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 15th and 16th. No phone calls, please.

2) Bring you child's photo and resume.

3) Upon scheduling an audition time, the Walnut will provide sheet music (child will be asked to sing a chosen selection).

4) Children will be asked to perform simple movement/dance steps.

5) Must be available for performances from November 10, 2009 through January 10, 2010.

Notes: We are specifically searching for boys and girls at or below five feet in height. Boys should have a young singing voice within the tenor to alto range. These are not requirements, but are preferred.

Each team performs four to five shows per week. Performances include select matinee and evening performances. Rehearsals begin October 20, 2009.
