Ramona Quimby stirs up trouble at the Walnut! (Kids Series)

January 15, 2007

Everyone's favorite pest comes to life! The Walnut Street Theatre for Kids kicks off the New Year with the humorous and heartwarming Ramona Quimby. Ramona knows better than anyone that when you're growing up, life is never fair! Her big sister Beezus is a pain, her father has lost his job, and Ramona's teacher doesn't like her! How can Ramona cope with it all? Ramona Quimby comes to the Walnut on February 3, 3007, at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm.

This new play by TheatreworksUSA is based on the Ramona series by Beverly Cleary. Cleary, winner of both the Newbery Medal and the American Library Association's Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, wanted to write books that would truly speak to everyday boys and girls. Cleary's Ramona books are among her most enduring works, resonating with all the fun and poignancy of those simple yet deeply truthful childhood perspectives of community and family. Families will cheer for Ramona as TheatreworksUSA appeals to real-life family issues with this funny and engaging production about the challenges of growing up.

TheatreworksUSA is America's largest and most prolific professional not-for-profit theatre for young and family audiences. Since 1961, TheatreworksUSA has reached over 78 million people in the United States and Canada. With a commitment to entertaining and educational live theatre, Theatreworks USA evokes the issues that are important in every community, classroom, and family.

The Walnut Street Theatre For Kids series is celebrated for its commitment to encouraging parents (and grandparents) to read to their kids. Families can escape the easy clamor of the TV as they read together, and then discover a whole new level of imagination when they see the shows live onstage, written especially for grades K-6th and their grown-up friends. The Walnut takes pride in bringing families together through reading and the arts.
