October 2, 2018

Philadelphia, PA: Walnut Street Theatre is delighted to announce Siobhán Ruane as their newly appointed director of production. Previously, she was the Walnut’s assistant production manager for the Mainstage season, and the production manager for the Independence Studio on 3 season. The 2018-19 season marks Ruane’s fifth season at the Walnut.

Walnut’s Producing Artistic Director Bernard Havard said, “I am thrilled to have Siobhán Ruane leading the team at the Walnut Street Theatre as director of production. Her extensive knowledge and experience at the Walnut makes her the perfect person to head the production department. I am confident we will continue our success as we move forward with our 2018-19 season with Siobhán as a member of the team.”

Previous to her years at the Walnut, Ruane was on faculty at Florida State University’s School of Theatre as Stage Management Advisor. There, she was responsible for mentoring stage management students, as well as training run crews and advising young stage managers in the classroom, rehearsal, and backstage. She has also worked with large theatrical companies such as Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas, Criss Angel Believe, and Norwegian Cruise Line, where she toured the world as a Production Stage Manager and Production Manager.

Ruane began her career in New York City after earning her BA from Rutgers University, with an internship at The New Group in Manhattan. After working as a freelance stage manager for a few years, Ruane received her MFA in Stage Management from The Professional Theatre Training Program at the University of Delaware, studying under Rick Cunningham and Sandy Robbins.  She then went on to work at various regional theatres across the country before coming home to Philadelphia.

Ruane is originally from the Jersey Shore, and currently lives in Center City.
