The Walnut's 8th Annual Auction: Spend a Night in Neverland!

October 8, 2007

PHILADELPHIA, PA: Let happy thoughts of vacations, fine dining and luxury lead you to the Walnut Street Theatre's 8th Annual Auction, A Night in Neverland. This year's auction will take place on Friday, October 26th at 6:00 PM and will benefit the Walnut Street Theatre Education Programs. Fly away with us for a night that will remind us all that the theatre is a place where our imaginations allow us to be young at heart.

The dreaming begins a little earlier than usual this year! For the first time, The Walnut Street Theatre has arranged for a selection of auction items to be available for bidding online at www.Walnutstreettheatre.cmarket.com. The adventure begins on October 1st, more than three weeks before the live auction, when over thirty items, including a bat autographed by Chase Utley and a night at the Ritz-Carlton will be available for bidding. The online portion of the auction will close at 8:00 PM on the 23rd and the items will then be entered in the live auction. Online bidders can continue to bid in person or place absentee bids. Whatever route you take, mark this website with an X because with so many great items in this year's auction, pirates, Indians, lost boys and everyone else in Neverland will be on the hunt for that winning bid!

Walnut Street Theatre and its partners in the community have collected enough spoils in this year's auction to fill anyone's treasure chest! Enjoy an out of this world evening with gift certificates from one of these great restaurants: Prime Rib, Devon Seafood, Fork, Swanky Bubbles, and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Other great items includes tickets to see the Flyers and Phillies, AirFrance tickets, a Tourneau Watch, and two tickets to see Food Network Chef Giada De Laurentiis cook live at Caesar's in Atlantic City!

Looking for a little bit of fairy dust to get away from it all for a few days? Our auction will include a trip for two from Apple Vacations and a week at a shore house in Ocean City, New Jersey. If the theatre is a place that fills you with happy thoughts, here is your chance to get in on the action at the Walnut! We will be auctioning off a carousel horse from the Walnut's block-buster production of Carousel, and "Tea with Tinkerbell" for ten people (which includes tickets to a matinee performance of Peter Pan). Also included is the exciting chance to have a walk on role in the Walnut's upcoming, all-new production of Les Miserables! These are just a few of the nearly 300 great items that will be available at this year's auction so there will certainly be something for everyone! The clock is ticking so reserve your seats before this treasure ship sets sail!

All proceeds from A Night in Neverland will benefit the Walnut's Education Programs, which is celebrating another record breaking year of success under the leadership of Susan Nicodemus Quinn. The Education Department's offerings include the Adopt-a-School program, which produces theatre at schools using their students and facilities; the Professional Apprentice program, which provides hands-on training for young theatre professionals; a Touring Outreach Company, which uses theatre to teach important lessons to students at local schools and the Walnut Street Theatre School, which offers classes year round at the theatre. This past year the Walnut's educational programming reached over 100,000 students in the Delaware Valley!

You won't want to miss the magic of A Night in Neverland! For just $35 in advance or $40 at the door, you can show your support for Walnut's Education Department and join us for an evening of fun and fantasy. Also, don't forget to bid online at www.WalnutStreetTheatre.cmarket.com!
