Melissa Joy Hart


Melissa has over 15 years of experience as a musical theater actor, singer, dancer, educator and cabaret artist. After getting her start in 1998 here at The Walnut, Melissa has performed in Sound of Music, Phantom, Amadeus, A Christmas Story and Sister Act on the mainstage and Jacques Brel, Sophie Tucker and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice in Studio 3. Other Regional highlights: Riverside Theatre (Sister Act) Milwaukee Rep (Ragtime, Assassins) Arden Theatre Co (Into the Woods) Delaware Theatre Co (South Pacific) Fulton Theatre (Little Mermaid) Theater Horizon (Fat Pig, A New Brain) and a half a dozen concert readings with 11th Hour Theater Co. As an educator and teaching artist, Melissa has taught for the Hartt School Community Division, University of the Arts, Bucks County Playhouse and The Grand Opera House. She trained and earned her BFA from The Hartt School at The University of Hartford in Musical Theater with a minor in Directing. In addition to collegiate studies, Melissa has trained extensively with Forrest McClendon, Betty Buckley, Joan Lader, Peter Flint and the late Marianne Challis.
