In 1972, Chita Rivera (left) appeared in a Philadelphia Drama Guild production of Garson Kanin's Born Yesterday with John Randolph. Rivera played Billie Dawn, the dumb-like-a-fox ex-chorine originally played on Broadway by Judy Holliday. Rivera is best known as the original Anita in the Broadway production of West Side Story, which paved her way to Broadway and Tony Award-winning stardom. She also originated roles in Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman and many other legendary productions. (Photograph courtesy of Ira Kamens.)
