Walnut Street Theatre is America’s oldest theatre and one of the nation’s most financially stable arts organizations with a $17M annual budget, producing a 5-show Mainstage season, and 3-show Studio season, a 2-show Children’s Theatre season, and educational programs.
The Director of Production is a member of Senior Staff and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the production department at the theatre and Scene Shop, including: budgeting and financial controls; hiring, maintaining and supervising production staff and stage managers; providing oversight of the design and production processes; IATSE stage crew, set, prop and wardrobe shops; the manufacturing or acquisition of all sets, properties and costumes and their rentals; and coordinating all schedules relating to production.
This is an in-person full-time position.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience required in all aspects of building and executing large-scale musical productions and plays
- Experience working with union labor and the ability to manage large teams
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and strong fiscal oversight
Compensation:
$160,000 with fully paid excellent benefit package and bonus potential

The Director of Finance is responsible for budgeting, financial monitoring, forecasting, cash flow, coordination of audit activities, investment accounting, compliance, and all tasks relating to daily, monthly and annual financial processing and reporting. This position also oversees payroll processing, and accounts payable and receivable. The Finance Office manages many of the Human Resources functions of the company including administration of the employee benefits programs and insurance policies.
The Director of Finance is a member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the Managing Director. The director works closely with the theatre’s President and Producing Artistic Director and the heads of department including Production, Marketing, Development, Facilities and Education. This position is supported by a Finance Associate and General Management Assistant. This is an in-person full-time position.
Qualifications:
-The Director of Finance should be a seasoned leader, preferably with at least 5 years managing the finance and administration of an $8-16M organization or business unit with collective bargaining agreements. Experience working in a complex non-profit organization with multiple programs is preferable, with a strong preference for someone who has operated in a fast-growing and innovative environment.
-Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, including solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and payroll and accounting for investments.
-Knowledge of Sage accounting software a plus.
Compensation:
$150,000 with fully paid excellent benefits.
