2003

The 2003-04 season opened with an American premiere of La Vie en Bleu, a French musical about the life of Pablo Picasso. The Walnut's production was greatly revised from the original and included a new book for American audiences. The production was staged by Bruce Lumpkin, who has directed over a dozen productions at the Walnut. It starred popular Philadelphia actor Jeffrey Coon (left) as Picasso and Jessica Boevers as his lover, Eva Humbert. Coon has performed in over a dozen Walnut productions, and Boevers' Broadway career includes stints as Ado Annie in the 2002 revival of Oklahoma! and Eponine in Les Miserables.
