The black-face team of McIntyre and Heath came to the Walnut in The Ham Tree in January 1908. This musical adventure of two African-Americans stranded in a small town featured W.C. Fields in a supporting role as a tramp juggler. Fields, pictured here, went on achieve international acclaim as a world-class juggler, taking his tramp character to several continents and to Broadway in the Ziegfield Follies.
