Kirk Douglas made his Walnut debut in the 1945-46 season in a play called Woman Bites Dog, a riotous satire about an egotistic and fanatical newspaper owner who is determined to see bogeymen in every direction. Douglas went on to have a very successful screen career as both an actor and producer, and father another Hollywood star, Michael Douglas.
