Ernest Truex in Lysistrata was the high point of the 1929-30 Walnut Street Theatre
season. This was the first production of the play in America. Truex is recognized
as a great character actor of both stage and screen. He began his stage career as
a child actor performing Shakespeare, where he was billed as "The Youngest Hamlet."
