Carson McCuller's
The Member of the Wedding played its pre-Broadway
tryout at Walnut Street Theatre in December 1949 and was the hit of the season.
The production starred, from left, Brandon De Wilde, Julie Harris, and Ethel Waters,
who were all critically acclaimed for their performances. All three reprised
their stage roles for the 1952 film version.
