1951
From left, Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne were Broadway's pre-eminent acting couple.
Together they performed in over 24 plays, have a Broadway theatre named after them,
and were recently commemorated on a postage stamp. The pair made their only
Walnut appearance in February 1951 with
I Know My Love. The romantic comedy
centered around a couple's life together over 50 years. The acting team was
celebrating 25 years together, and saw the play as a parable of their marriage.
