1952

An exterior view of Walnut Street Theatre in 1952 as it was re-designed by William Lee in 1920. You will note that there was no major signage or marquee on Walnut Street, with the name of the theatre being displayed on the Ninth Street side only and discreet poster boards in between the doors. The only concession the architect made to the Great White Way was the row of electric light bulbs mounted above the doors.
