1968

Arthur Miller brought a new production to the Walnut for the 1968 season. Clockwise from center, David Burns, Jack Warden, Arthur Kennedy and Kate Reid starred in The Price, a drama about two estranged brothers who come together over the sale of their father's estate. The original director had conflicts with the cast, so Miller had to take over the duties of director during tryouts. The production went on to become one of Miller's longest-running plays. In 2008, the Walnut revived The Price. This new production starred legendary stage and screen actor Robert Prosky alongside his two real-life sons. This production was Mr. Prosky's professional stage debut in his native Philadelphia. (Photograph courtesy of the Theatre Collection, Free Library of Philadelphia.)
