1959

In November 1959, Rex Harrison (right) appeared in The Fighting Cock opposite Odile Versois. The satire featured Harrison as a retired general based on French General Charles DeGaulle, and his makeup for opening night included a putty nose, bushy eyebrows, and a wig. The audience was disappointed that they could not even recognize Harrison, famed star of My Fair Lady, and the makeup was cut from future performances.
